Dear ALASKAN,
Ambler Road and the broader development and mining projects planned for the upcoming years put the Arctic at imminent risk of total ecological collapse. Historically, large-scale construction projects in remote areas have consistently led to a significant increase in violent and organized crime. Work crews will consist primarily of non-residents whose primary goal is financial gain—this will burden our already deficient legal system, putting native women and women who work in Northern Alaska at risk.
We are at a crucial juncture in Alaskan and world history. Our boreal forests must be protected. We cannot allow foreign companies, backed by and enriching the US government, to extract Alaska's precious copper and mineral resources to supply the development of AI infrastructure and the manufacturing of weapons for the American War Machine--particularly when profits will be of no benefit to the Alaskan people.
OUR RESPONSE TO THIS THREAT will serve as precedent for future federally-backed resource extraction and similar public-private partnerships nationwide.
Defend Alaska NOW! is a project dedicated to informing the public of the true cost of Ambler Road and Arctic development, as well as exposing government and corporate interests in the region.
Defend Alaska NOW! will consist of 3 parts/stages of development:
The initial wave of media and the memorandum are currently in development.
